This is a list of streaming media systems. A more detailed comparison of streaming media systems is also available.

Universal

The Helix DNA Server is a universal media delivery engine that supports the real time packetization and network transmission of any media type to any device. It includes support for MP3 audio (.mp3), RealAudio, and RealVideo (.rm,.ra,.rv). Other data types are supported through the Helix Universal Server.

  • Helix DNA is a project to produce computer software that can play audio and video media in various formats, aid in producing such media, and serve them over a network. It is intended as a largely free and open-source digital media framework that runs on numerous operating systems and processors (including mobile phones) and was started by RealNetworks which contributed much of the code.
  • Helix Universal is a commercial product and is an evolution of the first streaming server from Progress Networks delivering 'Realaudio' which launched in 1994 and essentially 'Gave the Internet Voice' (in as much as Sir Tim Berners-Lee gave the Internet a usable interface).
