From October 27 until October 29, zombie slayers will experience an increased number of Virals, waves of attacking hordes, an intensifying fight for survival, along with an increased amount of guns and ammo -- including a new type of shotgun ammo -- in their arsenal. Players will also be able to get the first ever new playable character - William 'Bill' Overbeck, a Survivor known from Valve’s franchise, as well as the iconic two-handed weapon, Gnome Chompski. The live event will be available for PC players.
The Left 4 Dead 2 DLC containing the two-handed weapon as well as the new playable character will both be available as a free DLC - starting October 27 on PC, and later on consoles.

Dying Light developer Techland is bringing back its Left 4 Dead crossover event for Halloween this year. Dying Light x Left 4 Dead 2 is available to play now until October 29 on PC for all Dying Light owners. Techland continues to support Dying Light seven years after it launched. Earlier this year, the studio revived one of its old titles as DLC with the Hellraid add-on, and new content like this Left 4 Dead crossover are keeping the game alive.
The status of Dying Light 2 is still up in the air, however, as the sequel currently has no release date. Originally scheduled for release sometime in Spring 2020, the game was delayed indefinitely earlier this year, with Techland writing, 'We need more development time to fulfill our vision.' Since then, Techland has cut ties with freelance writer Chris Avellone after he was accused of sexual assault and harassment by multiple women.
As for Left 4 Dead 2, Valve's popular game has seen a resurgence over the past few weeks. The company released The Last Stand in September, a community-created update for the 11-year-old game that resulted in the co-op shooter amassing over 60,000 concurrent players on Steam. It's not too surprising either considering the scale of the update, adding 26 new maps, four new scavenge arenas, new melee weapons, 30 new achievements, and a new ending for the campaign.
